The Millennium Children Ch.3

    Rei and her friends Joe, Terra, Mokuba, and Zuko were walking towards the park when suddenly a random man in a hood came up to them. “Helloooo children.” he said with an ugly smile, “are you interested in some good bargains?” he asked. ‘Great,’ Rei thought, ‘a freak of nature.’ “Come on Rei, we should check this out!” Joe said, “Yeah it would be cool!” yelled Terra. Rei sighed. There was no use on telling them he could be dangerous. “You guys can go ahead, I need to go do something.” Terra, Joe, and Zuko just sighed and went with the man. Rei started walking when she heard another pair of footsteps. “You can’t always walk out on your own you know.” Mokuba said following Rei. “I know but going with a random creep is not a good hobby.” Rei replied. Mokuba thought for a moment then said, “True, it isn't too safe either.” There was a moment of silence when Mokuba said, “Hey, we should go to the mall. I want you to meet some people.” Mokuba smiled and grabbed Rei’s hand leading her to the mall. When they arrived at the mall, there was a group of high schoolers standing in a circle talking with each other. “Hey guys, I want you to meet someone!” Mokuba yelled to the group. They turned around and smiled as they saw Mokuba approach them with a new friend. “Hey Mokuba!” they said. “Hi.” Mokuba replied “also, this is one of my best friends and my baby sitter, Rei.” “Hi Rei.” they all responded. “Um..hi” Rei said shyly. Then Yugi asks her “So Rei, you like to duel?” “I love to duel!” Rei replied. “You wanna duel me then?” Yugi asked. “Sure” Rei replied. They began to duel and they both seemed to have fun. “My Dark Magician attacks your Armed Dragon LV 5!” Yugi yelled. “Aaah!” a sudden sharp pain came from the blast on Rei’s arm. ‘What the...’ Rei thought, ‘is the damage...real?’ Rei glanced around the mall and saw Aster talking to a woman who, for some reason, looked very, very afraid. “Hey Rei! It’s your move!” Yugi said. “Oh, sorry.” Rei apologized. As the duel went on the damage seemed to become more real and was taking a toll on her, badly. Rei could barely stand. “Hey Rei, you ok?” Yugi asked concerned. “I..think so...” Rei said not noticing that she was collapsing to the ground unconscious. “Rei!” everyone yelled running to her. As she was falling to the ground she saw Aster walk through a shadow and disappear and soon she finally collapsed. Rei woke up startled from her black out. She was covered in bandages and bruises. She realized that she was in the hospital. “Rei! Thank goodness you’re ok!” She turned to see Mokuba, Seto, and Mokuba’s other friends. “W-what happened?” Rei asked. “You were dueling Yugi when you collapsed.” Mokuba said, “But the weird part was that during the duel you seemed to take damage, and I don’t mean by your life points, I mean your body took some serious hits!” “That is a side effect of her power” said Aster not even trying to conceal the loathing in his voice. “Why are you following me?” Mokuba asked. “I’m not here for you,” Aster replied. “I’m here for her.” He points at serenity. “What do you want with my sis?” asked Joey annoyed at him already. “Nothing special, just a little talk and her soul!” Aster said with an evil grin. Rei realized what he was trying to do. “I won’t allow you!” Rei shouted. Aster looked at Rei then laughed and said, “You are in no condition to fight back.” Rei frowned knowing he was right. “Then I will!” Everyone turned to to see Mokuba ready to duel. “You?” Aster laughed loudly, “you’re just a boy.” “Look who’s talking.” said Téa. To Téa, Aster said “Your breath stinks you need a breath mint.” Then to Mokuba he said “Very well, let this Millennium Game begin.” They all watched in mute horror as Serenity was dragged from her bed into a ring of tan fire. “Let’s duel!” Mokuba drew the first card and said, “I’ll start out by summoning Baby Dragon in attack and I’ll end my turn!” Aster smirked, “I draw and summon Broww, Huntsman of Dark World...”
